I think that the immigration journey is a kind of Game of Life. The more right answers you get to your questions, the more you will skip ahead spaces.

My name is Ana Paula Rocha Couto, or in Canada simply Ana Couto. I moved to Canada almost 6 years ago with my husband and daughter. I am from Rio de Janeiro and I lived in the same city for my whole life. So, I had a really hard time adapting here in so many different ways.
I am a journalist, but I have been working in marketing since I can remember. Before moving, I used to work at Petrobras in a role best translated as Marketing Manager. Since I have arrived, I have done so many, many different things to get back to the marketing field. And I had fun doing it all! But, I am happy to be back! For the last two years, I have been working as a digital marketing instructor and as a consultant for small businesses and non-profits. I also volunteer at my daughter’s's school, in non-profits, and much more …. Being a volunteer is a big thing for me.
Ok. I know! This is not the first place where you are reading or are going to read about somebody’s immigrant life, tips about how to adapt, get a job, etc. I know! But, here's the deal… I have this idea of sharing my experience as a woman, as a mother, as a wife, as a professional as a friend, and as a customer…
I think that the immigration journey is a kind of Game of Life. The more right answers you get to your questions, the more you will skip ahead spaces.
So here is the deal again - based on questions and answers that my friends, my family, and I had when we first came here, I will try to go through everything that might help you skip spaces and feel comfortable in your immigrant way of life.
